At the Lighthouse at the moment we have an English team doing their 'outreach' phase of their DTS (Discipleship Training School) - so they have been learning about God and now they are making Him known to others. I joined them this weekend to help out and translate basic conversations. They did various different events over the weekend, combined with a local church in the community.
Here is the weekend in pictures...

Playing musical chairs - none of the children had ever played it before, they really enjoyed it! |
|
Singing: head, shoulders, knees and toes!
|
|
The team led a mini children's service and shared their testimonies.

|
We made candy-floss and gave it to the children....they were so good and waited very patiently in the line
(But I was rubbish at making it - this was the only one I made!)

The team put on a puppet show while the children waited for their candy-floss. They told the story of David & Goliath....was a nice experience to see a puppet show with translation!
The events went really well - and they encountered many children in the community, and really just showed and told them about the love of God, and how He is relevant in their lives today.
I also enjoyed my time and thought the programme they offered was good. It was really good to get out into the community for me, as I do not really do a lot of work actually within the community. It also stretched me as I had to use my Portuguese a lot! |
