Birthday Girl...

At the lighthouse everyone has different responsibilities to keep track of and be in-charge of, E.g the kitchen, maintenance, cleaning, hospitality and birthday cakes. I am in charge of organising the birthday cakes for everyone at the Lighthouse. There are 36 birthdays.

So I get the privilege of making the cakes (I do not make all of the them though!)
I thought I would do a step-by-step guide of how they make cakes here in Brazil...

Get all the ingredients to make a basic cake and then make & cook the cakes....

Prick the top with a fork, and pour in some liquid...
In Brazil they add liquid, could be soda, milk, juice, to their cakes to make them more moist
Do a middle layer of icing or something and put the second cake on top....

Ice and decorate the cake...

The finished product...
Then time to eat the cake....
First taste of cake....yummy!!
Being 'birthday girl' is an awesome job, I am developing my skills in cake making, and developing my understanding a little more about the culture and how it is celebrated here. I will end this post now with the Brazilian 'happy birthday' song...

ParabĂ©ns pra vocĂȘ
