Bittersweet times...

At the moment for practical in the afternoons I am at the Refuge House - which is a house where both boys and girls with HIV/AIDS live.

The boys are certainly very lively and like to play a lot. So I have been playing football...

and also cops and robbers too! The boys energy levels never seem to decrease, apart from when we have to help them tidy their bedrooms - as they seem to just stand there and not look too happy!!

We have to come up with activities for all the children to get involved in. It is a little harder with the girls as they are older and harder to please, being a hormonal teenager! Next week one of the girls is going to paint my nails - which will be a good chance to build up a relationship with her.

For about an hour last week we just sat and did drawing with the boys and some of the girls - it was fun...

They are really good children, and I love hanging out with them.
Couldn't really imagine how they feel, as they know with having HIV/AIDS they are really never likely to be adopted, and have a chance to be in a real family. This feeling is just enhanced with what biological family they have left not wanting to see them. It is not even these children's fault they have HIV...but yet they have to suffer the consequences. I am glad we can bring them joy by playing games with them, and showing love to them.
It's bittersweet as it would be awesome for them not to be in this situation and not have HIV and have no family...but it's so nice to hang out with them and play games...
