Brazilian Countryside...

From Sunday to Tuesday we went to Pitangui, which is a place in the countryside in Belo Horizonte....it is about a 3 hour drive from where I live. We went there to help with the child care during the National YWAM leaders conference.

It was really nice to see a new place, and see some trees and walk on the grass and to have a mini adventure! A few things about the countryside and Pitangui....
1. It is very humid there (I felt sticky ALL the time, I really don't like it!)
2. It rains SO much - really heavy showers lasting hours
3. Caterpillars are poisonous - they burn your skin if you touch them
4. Frogs are also poisonous - I did see one, it was massive!
5. Really nice people live there .... we got to hang out with the base directors and play card games and eat cookies and yummy things, was real fun to be in a home and be part of their family for an hour or so.
6. There was so much green about, and not lots of massive buildings!
7. There are like a million bugs there!!!!!

Ok....that was a little about my experience of the place.
Working with the children was amazing :0)

On the Tuesday we as a class run the children's activities, which was actually rather a difficult challenge as the age range was from about 18 months old to 12 years old!
We did a drama about how we are all special and have different roles to play - which are all equally as important....we then spoke a very small amount about how everyone in the room is different....we look different, act different, can do different things, speak different language etc....we got them to look at their finger prints and that no one has the same....we then did finger painting!! We also did some balloon games, played cards and with blocks, sang songs - and overall have an awesome session!

Overall it was a good time, but I will be doing another post about something I experienced there, which really made me think about something in particular....
