I am not sharing this to scare, but to highlight the reality hundreds of children live in here in the slum...shooting. I would not be surprised if all the children here know what a gun shot sounds like, or maybe even seen a gun. The thought of that makes me sad. I am sad that I can now recognise (mostly) the difference between a gun and a popper type firework going off.
Tonight I was woken up by the rain, and then I heard about 5 gun shots, and then just the rain again. I hope that no one was hurt. I don't know why people resort to violence here....maybe its about fear, or power, or them seeking what they think is justice, I don't know?!
Below is a bullet that was found in the street not far from where we live, by Gideon who is a son of two missionaries here...
Just want to highlight again, that I am safe...but please pray for the safety of the hearts and minds of the children and their families I work with - who live with the realities or drugs, violence, guns, prostitution and more.
