Love...

Beckie and I decided at the beginning of the year that it is important for the girls in our group to be able to develop their character, by looking at a Bible character and sharing their story. For example we did the story of Noah for obedience. We look at a new characteristic every three weeks. We then look for the girls to display this characteristic through their time in the group - and then reward them.

The character we are looking at for the next three weeks is LOVE...
We looked at what it says in 1 Corinthians 13, this version is 'The Message Bible'...

   Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
   Love doesn't strut,
   Doesn't have a swelled head,
   Doesn't force itself on others,
   Isn't always "me first,"
   Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
   Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
   Puts up with anything,
   Trusts God always,
   Always looks for the best,
   Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end

Beckie made an awesome spinner with each of the things love 'is' on it, and the girls had to describe what it meant...

After discussing what love is, and the girls realising it is about actions and not just about feelings, we did a 'love' focused craft...

The end product...

It is a really exciting opportunity to teach these girls about developing who they are and how to live good lives in Christ. My prayer is that they will learn, grow and develop into the beautiful people God has created them to be. I hope that as we talk about Jesus' love for us next week, they will realise just how important and special they are and that they are truly loved ...
