On Thursday Beckie read the book: You are special by Max Lucado to our girls group:

After the story I asked them the question: Do you believe you are special?
The majority responded with: No.
Their response made me sad...but then I thought for a bit...how many of us think we are special? Do we continue to believe that we are special if we can do things well. It bought back memories of when I was in school or just younger and would compare myself to everyone else, the really pretty girl, the clever intelligent one, the person that could play musical instruments etc... I could only ever see the grey dots in my live and never the gold stars. Do you still think like that....you are only special because of what you can do? It is difficult not to compare ourselves with others in this world.
I have to admit that actually sometimes I still don't believe I am special either, when yes I do compare myself with others....they are so much better than me. But then I have to go back and remember that when God sees me, He sees me, and not all the other people around me. He does not compare me to others. He doesn't say you are special because you look like this or can do this and someone else cannot.
Plain and simple: I am special.
You are special because you are you
You are special because you are God's...
How differently are you going to live your life knowing you are special...
